Merely points for Accossato Racing teams in Assen

It could be a wonderful weekend for the teams supported by Accossato Racing, thanks to a great start in 1st row for Tom Luthi and Dominique Aegerter. Unfortunately, bad luck and negative weather conditions influenced the whole race.

Tom and Dominique led the race during the first two laps, as they both started quite fast. Anyway, the Swiss show didn’t last very long, because of motorbikes getting more and more difficult to ride. Luthi was pushed out of the track by Lowes, while Aegerter did a very brave race, considering his personal situation. He managed to reach the finish line in 9th position, obtaining 7 points for the World Championship rank. Tom Luthi can still fight for the top of the Moto 2 World Championship, as he’s 33 points away from Zarco.

See you all in Germany!

Ci vediamo in Germania!

Ups and downs at Knockhill for Quattro Plant Kawasaki

The Quattro Plant Kawasaki team were back in British Championship action at Knockhill at the weekend and although it proved to be a challenging meeting, the team came away with their first podium of the year in the MCE British Superbike Championship after Luke Mossey took third place in the first race of the day whilst three solid drives gave Ricky Stevens the lead in the British Sidecar Championship.
Mossey qualified in 12th place for Sunday’s opening British Superbike Championship race and although he dropped back initially, he immediately reversed that trend. Indeed, by the time the race reached half-race distance, he was up into third and well in contention for the win. He ultimately fell just short but the rostrum position got his season firmly back on track.
His strong pace saw him start the second race from the front row of the grid although the good, dry weather had been replaced by wet conditions. A poor start was the last thing Luke wanted but sadly that was what happened and he was down in 13th at the end of the first lap. He managed to move up to 12th at half race distance and that was where he crossed the line after 30 long laps.
Team-mate Filip Backlund found himself in 21st place and on the seventh row of the grid for the first 30-lap affair and he battled hard throughout, eventually taking the chequered flag in 19th place. Forced to start from the slightly lower position of 23rd for race two, the Swedish rider had fought his way back up to 19th once more by half race distance but on the 16th lap, he suffered a big high-side at Duffus Dip fortunately escaping injury.
Meanwhile, a disappointing 17th in the wet weather on Saturday afternoon saw Andrew Reid relinquish his lead in the Dickies British Supersport Championship. The Northern Irishman had qualified in second place but problems with the quickshifter saw him drop back to last and although he moved through the field, he was unable to claim any points.
Main rival James Westmoreland finished second to take the lead in the Championship and although Andy responded in Sunday’s ‘Feature’ race to finish eighth on the Quattro Plant Cool Kawasaki, he now finds himself in second overall in the title table, 22 points behind Westmoreland.
For sidecar team members Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood, it was an eventful weekend too with the latter falling out of the chair and suffering a dislocated shoulder in Friday’s free practice session. That meant Charlie Richardson was drafted in as passenger and despite only having a handful of laps together, the new pairing qualified in third place for the weekend’s three races.
A spin in Saturday’s first 15-lap encounter after a coming together with another crew saw them complete the first lap in dead last but they fought back to claim eighth place and they bounced back later in the day to improve to third. It looked like they’d saved the best until last when they led Sunday’s third and final race but a spin on lap eight dropped them back to third. However, the weekend’s results now mean Ricky has a 17-point lead in the title race.

All eyes look north for Quattro Plant Kawasaki

After their highly successful campaign at the Isle of Man TT races, the Quattro Plant Kawasaki team return to British Championship action this weekend with Luke Mossey, Filip Backlund, Andrew Reid and Ricky Stevens/Ryan Charlwood heading north of the border to Knockhill inScotland.
It’s been five weeks since round three took place at Brands Hatch and Mossey and Backlund will again contest the two MCE British Superbike Championship races at the Fife circuit and after two days of official testing last week at Snetterton, both are eager to resume their challenge.
Cambridge rider Mossey currently occupies tenth in the Championship table after the first three rounds and was on the pace throughout the Snetterton test, ending up second quickest on the first day and fifth overall after the team opted out of the second of the two days.

Backlund, meanwhile, placed 21st overall at Snetterton after he too only completed the first day but it was an encouraging test for the Swedish rider and he’s looking forward to securing his first points of the season at Knockhill.
Northern Ireland’s Reid was also in action at Snetterton and was the second quickest rider in the Dickies British Supersport Championship field, just 0.114s behind the pace setting Tarran Mackenzie. Riding the Quattro Plant Cool Kawasaki, Reid saw his lead reduced to six points after the last round at Brands Hatch and is keen to get back to winning ways and pull away from the rapidly closing James Westmoreland.
The fourth team members are Ricky Stevens/Ryan Charlwood and the duo currently lie in second overall in the Hyundai Heavy Industries British Sidecar Championship. The pairing have taken three second place finishes on their LCR Kawasaki in the three races held thus far and having taken a double at Knockhill this time last year, they’re confident of serving up a repeat performance.

Victory and podium in Misano for Accossato Racing!

This weekend started with the touching tribute in memory of the recently passed-away Luis Salom and Fabrizio Pirovano. After this moment of recollection, the 8th round of the Superbike World Championship started.

Barni Racing team with Ducati was very competitive since the beginning of the race. After an outstanding performance that granted them the 1st row, thanks to the best time obtained on Saturday official qualifications in Gara 2, they also did a great start. Even though he was 4th on the 3rd lap, Forés didn’t manage to stick at the back of Giugliano (Ducati) during the first part of the race. That’s why he lost the chance to threaten him, in spite of the good pace he maintained until the end.

Nevertheless, it allowed him to keep his placement up to the finish line, still being almost 3.5 seconds ahead from the other pilots.

On the other hand, it was a bitter ending for the Aruba.it Racing – Junior Team, during the 5th appointment of the Superstock1000 FIM Cup in Misano. Leandro Mercado was forced to give up because of a collision occurred while he was in 1st position, during the last lap. In spite of this, the Argentinian pilot managed to hold his position in the World Championship rank, 5 points away from the top with 3 races still to run.

Michael Ruben Rinaldi, who started from the last position because of a technical deal occurred during qualifications, got his revenge with an extraordinary come back that earned him the 10th place. The Italian pilot regained some cool 28 positions, obtaining important points for the World Championship rank:  best among rookies, he is currently 4th with 53 points.
